I'm even wondering if the professors who recommend books even read them... this is just one example of how poorly edited textbook can influence the outcome of a course. Given the fact that this textbook is supposed to prepare future nurses how to calculate drugs, this is beyond irresponsible to even consider publishing it and even more irresponsible to recommend as a main text to prepare you for your course exam. Don't waste your time with this crap if you really want to prepare for a drug calculation exam.
The material is ok, a little bit confusing and i have found much easier ways on learning some of the things taught in this book. but what really made me upset was the number of errors in the book. For example when you solve a problem and then go to check the answer its wrong. or the proof section is wrong. its just not a great look, because at first i thought i was doing something wrong till i re worked the problem out a couple of times to realize they were wrong... so now anytime i see something incorrect its just annoying.
This book was great! I loved how simple it was to learn the material. I took a dosage test to apply for nursing school, I needed a 90% to apply and I used this book to help guide me along with my study guide of sample problems: which did not explain how to do it the problem, and I made a 93% on the first try! I’m not great with conversions, it’s my biggest nightmare and this book really helped me get through it. I gave it a 4 because some of the problems didn’t explain how to do it, it was implied that you already knew how to solve it and I didn’t like that.. other than that, GREAT!
This is the book we used back when I was in Medication Administration. Very easy to understand, learn from to get that 100% on Med Math exams every semester and how to give medications in the clinical setting.
The book wasn't too bad. I passed the dosage exam. As far as the test, knowing the acronyms and having the general gist of what would be expected of me on the test was helpful. Being good at everyday math and how to turn a word problem into numbers helped a lot more though.
Great book, lots of practice questions.. brought it for my medical math class in nursing... I always struggled with math hopefully this helps !!!
