What I want to achieve with this book is to connect people with the thoughts and feelings they believed isolated them in the past and show them how those same thoughts and feelings can inspire and empower them today.This is a book about loving life, no matter what has happened in the past. The cover for Roses by Moonlight is beautiful yet simple, and fits the title well. The format for the pages/poems is simple: words on a page, with the first word of each poem or prose in bold, no frills, no pictures. This book is a quick, easy read, but one that you'll find yourself thinking about long after you've finished. I can guarantee that you'll find at least a handful of poems/prose that will stick out to you and speak to you in some way. I particularly enjoyed the poems on pages 3, 5, 17, 18, 59, and 130. I loved the lines from page 3's poem, "damaged is what I say but not broken." I also loved page 5's, "the only stillness that can creep into my heart is the moonlight-- a magical creature that gives a new start."
It's too simple for me, but you if like plain poetry or don't really care for imagery, this kind of book is for you. I completely disagree with the description above "Always connecting her love of nature with poetry, "... Saying "always" would mean that all the poetry in the book is connected to nature when in fact its not. This is boring to me.
I liked the short poems - something light to end the night
Every now and then you find words that speak your thoughts and stir your soul. That's what Nicola has done with this latest book of poetry. Her perspectives are beautiful reflections of what life is, and could be, if we tapped into the deepest and best part of ourselves. I highly recommend it as a meditational read to start or end your day.
I wanted a book that would be cathartic for me, and I was surprised this book delivered just that. This was also the first poetry book I have ever read, and I am pleased to say that I look forward to Nicola Mar's future works, as well as searching for more books like this one.

I’ve never felt the need to write a review of anything. Ever. But I’m 100% sure this book was written by a 6th grader... during detention.
I leave this book out in my living room as a coffee table book. I pick it up throughout the day when I need a little inspiration or have some quiet time for reflection. And guests always compliment the beautiful cover - it’s become part of the room’s decor. It is one beautiful book, inside and out!
